In May 2002, Symbiosis was conferred with the Deemed University status. Symbiosis Deemed University, then comprised three institutes: Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Symbiosis Society's Law College (SSLC) and Symbiosis Institute for Computer Studies and Research (SICSR). Symbiosis Deemed University was conferred status of Symbiosis International University (SIU) in October 2007 with 13 more Symbiosis Institutes coming under its wings.

Symbiosis International University is globally acknowledged as one of the best educational institutions imparting quality education for over 30 years. SIU keeps a keen eye on the current trends and innovations happening in the market place and offers courses, which are designed to meet the evolving requirements of the industry. SIU has an active managing committee and an advisory council, which is made up of eminent academicians, industrialists, bankers and social workers.

Recently, the University Grants Commission, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India has selected Symbiosis to promote Indian Education overseas
