Alvin Toffler in his book, 'Future Shock' vividly describe the effects of change in almost all realms of human activities. The 21st century can rightly be described as century of fast change. 'The roaring of change - a current so powerful today that it overturns institutions, shifts our values and shrivels our root.

The engine of the change is TECHNOLOGY. It has resulted in two path breaking technology; viz,Information Technology and Bio-Technology. The third important and significant sunrise technology is Geoinformation Technology. This technology has tremendous Application in urban development, telecommunication, natural resources etc.

Symbiosis, which has emerged as a global leader in providing quality education over a period of 32 years, is launching a unique Institution of Geoinformatics. It will provide a two years autonomous masters program, which will open up a variety of opportunities to the students who aspire to build their careers in this exciting field if science and technology. The curriculum is designed by scientists, technologists, under the guidance of an Advisory Body which consists of individuals with considerable expirience.
