Symbiosis was established in 1971, primarily to promote a world understanding between Indian and foreign students through education. Symbiosis runs academic institutions from Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Schools to Postgraduate Degrees in multiple disciplines. Symbiosis has over 1,00,000 students off campus from 60 different countries. It has 37 institutes,14 campuses and over 45,000 students on campus, belonging to all states of India and also overseas, pursuing studies in various Symbiosis Institutes. All Symbiosis institutes imparting education at graduation and post graduate levels are constituents of Symbiosis International University; and have been recognized by the AICTE and UGC. Symbiosis is in process of establishment of ' Vishwa Gram'- a Global Village of Symbiosis International University over a sprawling campus at Lavale off Bangalore-Mumbai Highway on outskirts of Pune.
